FAQ - Routing

I cannot update traffic cameras or traffic data from the services menu? Navicore displays message "an error has occured!"

We have found and verified the problem. Try to change port 80 to 8079 in Navicore settings (Server settings menu). Then retry update procedure.

What does the 'Dynamic routing' mean at the traffic menu in Navicore Personal 2006?

If you have enabled traffic data alerts and the dynamic routing is on, Navicore will try to make a alternate route which will pass the barrier.

When I drive back from my destination, Navicore takes me to a different route than the one I used to get to my destination. Is this an error?

Navicore tries to optimise the route so that it is a fluent and easy as possible to drive. The navigator will try to take you to main roads and highways as soon as early as possible. In case a highway is located very near both to the departure and arrival points the Navigator may consider the importance of these highways differently depanding on your starting point. Therefore the routes may also differ depending on your direction of driving. Also one way streets naturally affect the choice of the route.

I know that the route Navicore Personal suggests includes a section that is under construction and not passable currently. How can I find an alternative route?

Just turn away from the route and Navicore Personal will re-route you automatically. You can also try the "Find alternative route" option.

Why does Navicore Personal route me differently than I would have personally driven?

Navicore Personal finds by default the quickest route to the Destination. The routing is based on average assumptions about travel speeds on different roads. It can not compensate for e.g. time of the day variances or recent changes in speed limits.

If you are not satisfied with the quickest route -option, you can always try the "Find shortest route" -option, which calculates the abosolute shortest route regardless of speed limits.

I'm trying to find a street address, but I can not find it in the listing. What can I do?

Navicore Personal has a very extensive address database, but it can have errors or omissions. Especially unofficial streets are often not listed in the database.

Please also note that the search results are arranged by distance to Origin and are therefore not in alphabetical order. Either input the address in more complete form or browse the list further down.

I would like to know the distance from location A to location B, but Navicore Personal only allows me to input the Destination location. What should I do?

If the GPS-receiver is turned on and has been activated with Navicore Personal, then the current location is always used as the Origin. To be able to give the Origin as an address, select "Deactivate GPS" from the Navicore Personal menu. Then you give both the Origin and Destination manually.

When finding a route I have to input the address twice. Why?

If you have not activated the GPS-receiver or the GPS-receiver is not turned on, navicore Personal can not know your current location and therefore asks for the Origin and Destination addresses.

If the GPS-receiver is turned on the current location is always used as the Origin of the route.
