FAQ - GeneralHow do I launch the Navicore Personal application?When the memory card is correctly installed in the phone, the Navicore icon will appear on the application menu (* of the phone. Go to the application menu by pressing the dedicated application key in the keypad. When you are in the application menu, browse for the Navicore-icon and click it to launch the application. (* Depending of the phone, icon may also placed to the 'My own' folder. How do I answer the phone while navigating?In case you receive a phone call while navigating, you can take the call normally as you would otherwise by pressing the green "answer" button. While a phone call is in progress, all voice guidance is suppressed in most phone models. Returning to an application depends on the phone mark and model. See your phone user manual. In Nokia mobile phones press and hold the menu button, application switching window opens showing a list of applications currently open. How do I make a phone call while navigating?In case you want to make a phone call while navigating, you can do this by returning to the regular phone user-interface. You do not need to turn off Navicore Personal while making a call. Check your mobile phone's manual on how to return to the phone interface. In most Nokia phones it is done by pressing the dedicated application key in the keypad a few times. When the call is over you can return to the Navicore Personal user interface by pressing the application key for a period of time and selecting Navicore from the appearing application list on the left side of the display. If you want, you return to Navicore Personal already during the call without disconnecting. How do I choose the language in Navicore Personal?Navicore Personal chooses its language based on the language of the phone. This always offers the language the user is familiar with and a consistent user interface. To change the language, simply change the language setting of the phone (please refer to the phone user manual for more information). I’d like the map to point towards north. What should I do?The map points to north always on low zoom levels (low detail). To make the map orient to the north on higher zoom levels, press the ”0” key on phone keypad. This will rotate the map. The map will automatically rotate back to point to your direction of movement.after a short while. How many waypoints can be added to a route plan?There is no technical limit to the number of waypoints. You can add as many waypoints as you find useful. Can I save a route I have designed?No, the current versions of Navicore Personal do not support saving routes. A route stays in the memory until you make a new route or shut down Navicore Personal. Can I use Navicore Personal with a PC or a Pocket PC device?No, Navicore Personal has been designed for the Symbian operating system that is currently available only on specific mobile phone models. It does not work on a PC or a Pocket PC. How do I check which version of the program I have?To check the pdoduct version, choose ”About product” from the program menu. The click on “Version”. I have problems with a Bluetooth handsfree device, the GPS and the handsfree do not work simultaneously or the voice cracks or a part of voice instructions are inaudible.Please note that some older mobile phones support only one simultaneous Bluetooth connection. You cannot use two different Bluetooth devices (such a a GPS and a handsfree car kit) with these phones. Some phones support multiple connections but require pairing to be done in a certain order. Please refer to the specifications of your phone model for more information and test different orders of pairing the devices. Navicore has been tested to work with some handsfree kits without problems. However, all such products have not been tested and certified by the manufacturer for multiple connections. This may result in malfunctioning or bad voice quality. In such case, please contact the manufacturer of the handsfree kit for further information. *) 2006 version includes handsfree invoke option, which fixes some of the compatibility issues with handsfree sets. I cannot start my Navicore Personal. It used to work without problems but now is says “Application closed” or something similar. Please first remove any recent other installed programs and large files from the phone memory. The shut down and restart the phone. If this does not fix the problem, transfer full Navicore Personal program binaries from a backup copy to the card, if you have a backup. If a backup is not available or this method does not remedy the problem, contact our customer support. I would like to copy my Navicore to a larger memory card or take a backup of my existing card. How do I do this?You can transfer the program files from the memory card and back to the card (or a new larger card) with a PC and a standard memory card reader that supports the memory card you have in use. Copying is performed just like copying any other files from one folder to another. In most computers you do this by dragging the files with a mouse to the desired destination. I have a Series 60 phone but I’m thinking about upgrading it to a Series 80 phone. Can I make Navicore work on my new phone?If you have purchased the Europe DVD version of the product, you can make a new memory card that is compatible with your new phone by simply selecting the desired phone models from the installation menu. If you have purchased a single country on a memory card, this does unfortunately not work on a Series 80 phone. To make Navicore work on your new phone, you need to purchase an upgrade. I have just purchased an upgrade but when I try to register it, the program says that the license code has already been used.An upgrade requires that you have previously bought and registered an original version of the program. You cannot use the upgrade without a prior registration. Navicore Personal freezes at startup and does not continue.The problem is in Navicore Personal's license manager and occurs only with some operators and S60 3rd edition platform. To fix the problem go to the download section and install the fix to Navicore Personal's license manager - donwload the fix. |
